The Quemahoning Reservoir is a beautiful scenic body of water located off route 601 between Hollsopple and Jerome, Pa.  It was originally built as a water supply for Somerset and Cambria County areas and owned by The Manufacturers Water Company of Johnstown (TMWC).

The lake opened for public fishing in 2000 and could become the best big bass lake in the state. There is a boat ramp with a per day access fee. Boats are restricted to less than 17' and no gas or gasoline motors are permitted on the lake; electric motors only. There are several carry-in accesses around the lake that can be used without paying a fee by using a canoe or small carry-in boat.

The Stonycreek-Conemaugh River Improvement Project (SCRIP)

Presents the 3rd Annual Quemahoning Classic Fishing Tournament for 2008

( Click Here For Directions )

The tournament event was the brainchild of this group and its leaders to showcase the recreational opportunities available at the Quemahoning Reservoir and to demonstrate how the Quemahoning Creek watershed has recovered from historic abandoned mine drainage (AMD) pollution. It is has now become a destination point for fishing and other recreational pursuits.

The Quemahoning Reservoir has changed in recent years thanks to the hard work and efforts of many groups who have pulled their resources together so that the public can now enjoy more quality family outdoor recreational benefits that we had not been able to experience in the past. Now there are picnic area's, camp area's, a well kept boat launch with restroom facilities, along with pavilions for meetings, reunions, or just a family gathering area.

After the original Que Classic took place in 2006, it was met with such great enthusiasm from the public, that it is now an annual event to look forward to during the latter part of the month of June or July

We would like to invite you to be a part of this annual event and volunteer to help with its planning as well as being a volunteer at the Reservoir the day of the tournament. Volunteers for judges that can canoe or kayak are also needed. In addition,  sponsorships are available for businesses or individuals.  Sponsorships cover the costs of the tournament and the tournament also serves as a fund raiser for SCRIP so this is an excellent opportunity to support SCRIP and its projects.
